pH Balancing Foods
Your Body pH Affects Everything.
Human blood pH should be slightly alkaline (7.35 to 7.45) A pH of 7.0 is neutral, below 7.0 is acidic, above 7.0 is alkaline.
An acidic pH will lower the body's ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients. It will lower the body's ability to repair damaged cells or detoxify heavy metals. It will allow tumor cells to thrive and, it makes the body more susceptible to fatigue and illness.
The main cause of acidosis in our society is our American diet which is far too high in acid producing animal products like meat, eggs and dairy. To maintain health, the diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods and 40% acid forming food. If we need to restore health, it should consist of 80% alkaline and 20% acid forming foods.
Urine and/or saliva test strips to test the pH balance in your body can be obtained at drug stores or health food stores. Your pH balance should be checked on a regular schedule. If you have blisters on your tongue or it feels itchy or hot, you need to eat more alkaline foods.
Some foods will have an alkaline pH before they are ingested and after digestion will leave acidic residue. Meat, in particular, is very acid forming. Lemons are acidic before digestion and they become very alkaline after.
As always, it is best to buy organic and natural. Artificial sweeteners like NutraSweet, Sweet 'N Low, Equal, Aspartame or others are not only extremely acid forming, they are poisonous to your system.
